Oh i forgot to comment on number 10 use florescent bulbs. it is a surprisingly little known fact that florescent bulbs contain mercury, a lot of mercury, enough mercury that weather or not they are better for the environment is a matter of debate among the informed. They are still probably worth the trouble since they reduce you're energy bill but dont assume.

Re #1 Paper towels
every tree that gets cut down to make paper was planted for that purpose. if you dont buy paper products you are refusing to give business a reason to plant trees. think of it this way. every tree that gets planted pulls CO2 out of the air in the process of its life. If you turn the tree into paper the carbon stays in the paper. if you trow that paper away the carbon goes with it and STAYS OUT OF THE AIR. paper products aren't part of the problem they are part of the solution. if you really want to reduce the amount of carbon in the air go waste as much paper as you can.

The only tip I am not willing to take into account is "travel by train". In my country this is the best way to wanna commit suicide. Horrible service, God I hate our trains :D

Otherwise the advice is excellent.

Re #3 Recycling.

It is perhaps worth mentioning the order of importance of the 3 Rs: Reduce, Reuse, then Recycle.

Recycling gets a lot of press but if we should be aiming to reduce consumption in the first instance.
