Kayleen,
I'd say take very small steps towards getting in shape. If you push yourself too hard in the beginning you will just give up. What I have done in the past is write down a few goals for the week and then reward yourself with something that helps you reach your goal. For example, a couple of goals can be... 1. Do 10 squats a day, 2. drink plenty of water 3. walk for 10 minutes every day, challenging yourself 4. Include vegetables in every meal and 5. take a daily vitamin. Then at the end of the week reward yourself. My love is shopping, so I would buy a new outfit that makes me feel good, or maybe gym clothes. Choose whatever makes you happy. Each week make your goals a little more difficult and eventually you will see lots of improvement and a increase in energy. Good Luck!

Excellent post.....but I have a question. I have been leading a very sedentary lifestyle for quite a few years. It started from an anxiety disorder which lead me to become disabled. I am on meds and the meds make me so tired....I really don't do too much at all and now it has really caught up with me....my heart now races when I reallly try to do anything....I know it's from sitting around..but where do I safely start? I cleaned my room today and my heart was racing sat down a few times and I am just exhausted. I have talked to my doctor and he said go for a walk....but I don't leave my hoouse. Before my panic and anxiety I was active and and very outgoing, not anymore suggestions greatly appreciated

Thanks for your kind comments.

Researchers say that a sedentary lifestyle causes more deaths than smoking, worldwide. We'd better take it serious.

A sedentary lifestyle besides being very bad for your health, can also lead to some severe social and emotional issues, which in some severe cases can lead to anti-socialism. Those are definitely some solid tips on how to overcome the "fatty" life style :D

That is an excellent post about how to stay active. Very true that most of us have to sit and work most of the day. Some exercise after work can do miracles making you feel alive again.
